8 Wishes We Have For Nick Carter On His Birthday

Close your eyes. Make a wish.

Nick Carter, the youngest Backstreet Boy, is celebrating a milestone birthday this year! He may be turning 40, but let’s face it, he’ll always be in his 20s to us (because so will we).

One of the most magical parts of a birthday celebration, as we all know, is blowing out the candles and making a wish. While only the birthday boy can do that, we’re blowing out into the universe some of the big wishes that we have for him!

1. We wish for the world to know how kind his soul really is.

We know the majority of the world thinks of Nick Carter as a forever-teen-idol with the voice you’d know anywhere and the 90s haircut everyone copied, but if you ask anyone that’s followed him over the years, they would tell you about a laundry list of things that aren’t that. They would tell you about how much he adores his children, how he makes an effort to make fans feel involved in his music and his everyday life, and what a big giver he is. We don’t see a pop star with no concept of reality. We see a human who is always striving to learn more, to do more, and to be the best he can be everyday.

2. We wish for a new solo project he’s passionate about.

We love Nick among the other Backstreet Boys, but we also love seeing him get hype about a project that’s personal to him. Whether it be an album, a movie, or an event, we adore that spark and we’d be lying if we said this wish wasn’t as much for us as it is for him.

3. We wish for him to see himself the way we see him.

Along the lines of everything we expressed in our first wish, we not only want the world to see what we see in Nick Carter, but we wish it for himself as well. Obviously, no one sees themselves as clearly as other people do, but for so many of us, his words, his lyrics, his passion, his talents…have inspired us. We only hope that he knows his large impact.

4. We wish for him to continue creating the best memories with his family.

Take one look at Nick’s social media and you’ll know how much his family means to him. They mean EVERYTHING to him. We wish that those memories only get better and sweeter for years to come… and that his instagram lives keep us entertained while he does so.

5. We wish for more success and credit for all the things he does!

At several points between 2014 and 2016, Nick was on tour with the BSB, on tour with Nick & Knight, promoting a TV show, judging in a TV show, dancing with some stars, shooting a movie, funding a movie, doing con appearances, recording solo music, going on several legs of a solo tour, moving to Vegas, performing in the Vegas residency….and GETTING MARRIED AND HAVING BABIES IN BETWEEN. Hello world — you’re not talking enough about everything this man is doing!

6. We wish for him to have a flawless Twitch stream one night.

One night…. no sound issues, no echo, no server problems, privacy issues, and everything else wonky. The man JUST. WANTS. TO. PLAY. WITH. PEOPLE. One night, it’ll alllll work out. We just know it.

7. We wish for him (and us) that his endless amount of talents keep flourishing.

Please see #2 and #5. There’s nothing Nick Carter can’t do and we are blessed to live in a time where he exists and he is sharing his talents with us all over the world. We wholeheartedly believe that there’s more where that came from.

8. We hope that he always remembers that age is only a number!

Like we said at the beginning of this post, we’re all staying in our 20s forever, got it? Nick has mentioned multiple times that he doesn’t want to “get old”, but man, we can’t imagine that someone so full of life will ever truly “get old”. And even so, there are always going to be four brothers that are older. That helps, right?

Happy Birthday, Nick – our forever young Backstreet Boy!

Waiting For A Rainbow: How Nick and Lauren Carter Have Inspired So Many Of Us

Unless you’ve been living under a rock far away from a Backstreet Boys fan, you know that Nick Carter and wife Lauren Kitt-Carter welcomed a daughter last week. Saoirse Reign Carter was born October 2nd, weighing in at just over seven pounds, in Las Vegas, where the couple lives with 3-year-old big brother, Odin.

What you may not know about is the journey that the Carter family has been on to get to a family of four. In 2015, when Nick and Lauren announced that they were expecting a little boy on Dancing With The Stars, we wrote an open letter wishing them well, about what wonderful parents we thought they would be, and how much we admired their honesty about a previous miscarriage.

Four years later, we are more inspired by their strength and honesty about their journey to becoming parents than ever before.

Last September, the Carters revealed that Lauren had suffered another miscarriage, this time further along — a little girl. While Nick expressed his grief about the loss in real time, being very open about the details and the reality of it, his wife took time away from social media, not addressing it until International Womens’ Day, what would have been her due date, in March.

“I’ve moved on from my losses, days like today remind me just how fortunate I am to have a healthy child and how BADASS women are, how much we endure with a smile on our face. If you are struggling to start a family or have had a loss this post is for you, you’re not alone and there is always hope,” Lauren wrote, sharing an ultrasound photo  and her pledge to donate to Every Mom Counts, an organization that works to give every woman access to safe pregnancy and childbirth options.

In May, Nick and Lauren revealed that they were indeed expecting again via an instagram post while on tour with the Backstreet Boys in Europe. There is always hope.

Fast forward to October and, well, you know how this story ends — with a beautiful new beginning.

But it was this video of the hours leading up to Saoirse’s arrival to her birth that has not only tugged all of our heartstrings, but has really inspired the hope that Lauren referred to in her Instagram post many months ago, in so many of us.

“For 2 years I watched you endure some of the hardest things a husband could ever witness. Going through the ups and downs of pregnancy all in the hopes that just maybe, with a little help from up above, we would get to this point,” Nick wrote in a poignant post to Lauren, reflecting on their daughter’s birth and after seeing it all play out — wow, we. FELT. THAT.

So here we are, to the point of this post…

“When it rains, look for rainbows. When it’s dark, look for stars.”

The amount of ups and downs that this family has endured in the past few years is something that no one should have to go through. That amount of ups and downs on top of hoping, wishing and waiting for God and the universe to send you a happy, healthy baby is beyond tough.

But here they are. Nick. Lauren. Odin. Saoirse. A family that has been so wanted, HOPED for, and will undoubtedly share so much love between them for an endless amount of time. If that’s not inspiring, if that’s not the product of always looking forward and keeping the faith that’s what meant for you will find it’s way to you, we don’t know what is.

To Nick and Lauren,

Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Thank you for being so honest about not only the struggles and the fears, but the triumph and excitement as well. Thank you for sharing the beautiful moments as parents as well as the tough moments. Thank you for sharing your strength in the hardest of times and your encouragement to continue in the face of adversity. Thank you for the reminder to be patient with the universe, to count the blessings that we are given, and always give back to those less fortunate.

We have watched you grow together and watched you grow your family. We could not be more thrilled for the two of you to welcome Saoirse into the world because there are no two people more deserving of a light — a rainbow. Your immense love for her is already so apparent and she is beyond lucky to have a set of wonderful parents that have not only waited for her for so long, but who will protect her, teach her, and love her like every child deserves. She will, no doubt, move mountains.

You all have inspired a renewed hope in all of us… that anything is possible, that love is real and that we’re all going to be okay – it’s just in how you look at things. Your family has truly epitomized looking for the stars in the dark and the rainbows in the rain. Good things happen to good people and we are so happy to see it.

Wishing you all the best, Carter family — you deserve it.

27 Videos of Nick Carter Singing “The Way It Was” That You Need To See Right Now

If you’ve been following along on the Backstreet Boys’ DNA tour so far, then you’ve probably already declared one or two parts of the show as your favorite. [If you haven’t been following along and would like to stay spoiler-free, leave here now. Read this post instead.]

Far and wide across social media platforms, there are a few performances that keep getting talked about – the Backstreet Boys performing “New Love” and the one that you came here for. Don’t act like you don’t know.

When DNA was released, fans poured in with love for Nick Carter’s vocals on “The Way It Was” (Sidenote: Can we also talk about how gooooddd Kevin hits us with that “YOU. KNOW. I still want you baaaaabay…” at some point?). When he teased that he may sing it at his acoustic event in Vegas in April, fans were drooling at the very idea of it.

Then tour began.

And every Backstreet Boy sang a new song.

And there was Nick Carter… giving everyone exactly – E X A C T L Y – what they wanted. Some didn’t even know they wanted it, but here we are with an entire post dedicated to his solo performance of a SNIPPET of “The Way It Was”.

Quickly after tour began and fans tweeted videos of the performance, we were flooded with drool…er…tweets from people proclaiming that they couldn’t get enough and they would retweet the performances anytime they saw them.

Something about his voice. Something about his charm. There is something about Nick singing one minute of this song that sends some kind of gentle wave of euphoria into the crowd (in person and on the interwebs) that people can not get enough of. Hell, at one point Carter himself takes a seat on the stage in a meditation-like pose and we’re pretty sure that he can’t even handle himself and that song.

“The Way It Was” is our own personal Backstreet marijuana in a Nick Carter flavor and that’s the way it is.

And now, for your own personal eargasmic, fellow fan-mily members have shared their videos of the performance in multiple cities. Enjoy!

5 Things We’ve Learned From Nick Carter

For the past 25 years, Backstreet Boys fans worldwide have ended January by celebrating Nick Carter’s latest trip around the sun.

This year, the youngest Backstreet Boy turns 39 and what a life it has been thus far! We have seen Nick literally grow up before our eyes (as we have alongside him) and through the highs and the lows, we have learned so much from him.

As we have with every other Backstreet Boy on their birthdays, we’re celebrating by laying out some of the best things we’ve learned from Mr. Carter.

1. Hard Work Pays Off.

When we say that Nick is (and has always been) one of the hardest working people we know, we mean it professionally and personally. There’s very few times in his career that Nick has only had one task at hand, always working to create something new and do something better than he has done before – group and solo.

Then there’s the fact that, after fearing a decline in health from years of bad choices, he turned everything around – hitting the gym and taking care of himself on a regular basis. This hard work has turned into Nick living his best life and looking the best he ever has, but also in the best health he ever has been, inspiring many to do the same.

2. The Power Of Positivity.

Nick has spoken before about a book that meant a lot to him, Dr. Norman Vincent Peale’s The Power Of Positive Thinking, a gift from bandmate Kevin Richardson, and how positive thinking has affected his life and overall outlook on things. This disposition has translated through in many things in Nick’s work, the way he speaks, and has inspired us to think twice about the way we think as well.

3. A Lot of RANDOM Things.

From aliens to football to video games to high tech computer developments to all the science to the process behind the scenes, Nick has inadvertently taught us so many things we didn’t know before. We guarantee you if you spend five minutes with him, you’re going to learn SOMETHING… whether you wanted to know it or not.

4. Family Isn’t Always Blood Related.

If you’ve followed Nick Carter for any length of time, you’d know that so many of the people he calls his family are people he has chosen – people that have come into his life by chance, fans included. Even now that he is married with a son and has a sweet little family of his own, you’ll find him still referring to the other BSB as his brothers. He has made it clear to so many that family is what you make it and in that, many have been able to come to terms with things in their own life and find their own families.

Because of Nick, a lot of fans have found their families in each other.

5. How To Go Hard For Things We Believe In.

Remember that time we found ways for everyone to watch Dancing With The Stars worldwide and vote an obscene amount of times and forced our friends to do the same? Remember when we voted for “The One” to be a single because of Nick? Remember every moment we’ve rallied for him through in the past 26 years? Remember every football season when Nick himself believes the Bucs will finally make it to the Super Bowl?

He’s taught us to be passionate about what we want, to throw our support full force behind the people we believe in, and inspired us to go hard for those things. No one does it better than Nick Carter.

Happy Birthday, Nick!

We hope that your day (and this year) is nothing short of amazing for you.

What’s Happening On The Backstreet: December 2018

What a month, right?

One would think after the Backstreet Boys announced their album release and upcoming tour, they would take the rest of the year off and a well deserved break. As we all know though, we’re fans of the five hardest working men in the music industry and this month was full of a few more year-end successes!

If you think you’ve missed anything (or even if you haven’t), we’ve recapped it all below for an end of the year catch-up.

25 Years of Hard Work and Humility: The Truth About The Backstreet Boys

When the Backstreet Boys formed in 1993, with their ages ranging from 13 to 22, they were only hoping to become a success and maybe, by some miracle, keep that success for more than a few years.

Fast Forward to 2018, Kevin, Howie, Brian, AJ, and Nick are celebrating 25 years together and their first single, “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart”, in the top 10 on the American Top 40 Hot AC Chart. Media outlets who had counted the Boys out just a few years ago are now aware of their ongoing success and reporting on it as such. Their Vegas residency, announced in 2016 and running since March 2017, is still one of the best selling shows on the Strip, not only garnering the attention of fans across the world, but quite a few celebrities as well (including Niall Horan, Snooki, Gwen Stefani and more).

A Post About Nick Carter, Howie D. And Some Of The Best Tweets Ever

We’ve written about Kevin and Nick, Nick and Brian, but since the invention of Twitter, we’ve realized the gem that is Howie D. and Nick Carter.

From bringing the party to the first Backstreet Boys cruises (and even now) to Howie’s MASSIVE support for Nick on DWTS and I Heart Nick Carter to Nick’s obsession with Howie’s “100 Kisses” and ALL of the (playful) shade throwing, these two are endless entertainment!

5 Kind Things We Have To Say About Nick Carter

Every now and then, we like to put a series of posts together that highlight different things about each of the Backstreet Boys. There can never be too much love, right?

This time, we wanted to share posts with kind words for each Boy because sometimes we all need a reminder about how good these five are, not only together, but individually. Not everything that lives on the internet is positive, but it’s always been our aim to add a little to the “good side” and we encourage you to share your own kind words in the comments!

There’s so so so so soooo much going on that between our longer posts, these catch-up posts are almost necessary because we’d hate for anyone to miss anything! So… here it goes:

  • AJ McLean shot his new music video for a sexy single called “Night Visions” and, from the looks of it, he’s getting arrested and Paul from ‘Big Brother 18’ and ‘Big Brother 19’ is involved? We can’t WAIT to see (and hear it)!

  • Finally, AJ is having a private listening party at Top Golf in Las Vegas on Thursday, August 2nd and the ONLY way in is to win. 95.5 The Bull is giving away passes — get your details here.
  • We learned a few new things about the Backstreet Boys, but it turns out, they actually know each other pretty well (even if Howie DID cheat)!
  • Speaking of learning new things, Brian Littrell did a quickfire Q&A with Daily Mail and if you want to know what his best and worst qualities are, his first childhood memory, his bucketlist item and more, click here!
  • Brian also did a photo shoot at Hartfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta to become a part of the celebrities “welcoming” you to Atlanta!

  • The Backstreet Army is facing off against Cardi B.’s Bardi Gang in Billboard’s 2018 Fan Army Bracket. Vote NOW!

  • Oh…and this one last little thing…

The Curious Case of Nick Carter and Melissa Schuman: Everything We Have Questions About

In the past week, a lot of things have been posted and a lot of arguments have been thrown back and forth via social media in regards to Melissa Schuman’s allegations against Nick Carter in 2002. If you haven’t read about it, google it – we’re not going to link it in this post.

Numerous fans (and non-fans) have taken to Twitter, Facebook, etc. to post their opinions about the story and to be honest, none of us know exactly what transpired the night that Melissa has brought into question. That much is true. That is why we can only go off of what we know and that is where it gets confusing.

Before we lay out what we know and why we’re confused, let’s get one thing straight – we are not “victim shaming” and we know the whole “this is why victims don’t come forward” psychology. We get it. Just as Nick is innocent until proven guilty, we, personally, can not 100% refer to Melissa as a victim.

We’re not posting this to get into a he-said / she-said, but we’re posting it to give everyone a layout of WHY we’re all confused about these allegations (and to right a few things). If we’re going to talk about it, let’s talk about all of it. We are always welcoming of anyone who can dispute the items and clear things up for us as well.

Here we go:

– Probably the most questionable fact regarding Melissa and Nick has been the fact that Melissa Schuman follows Nick Carter on Twitter. Even after many fans pointed this out, she has not unfollowed him. Melissa joined Twitter in April 2008 and Nick didn’t join until March 2009. This was 6 and 7 years after the alleged incident and it isn’t a case of “follow back” since Nick does not follow her.

We understand that it’s good to keep friendly relations in “the industry”, but if Melissa wanted nothing to do with Nick past the incident and the duet where he supposedly snubbed her for having a boyfriend, why is she following him on social media?

– Melissa tweeted Nick her condolences after his sister Leslie passed away in 2012.

– Melissa’s husband of 11 years (who she met in 2003), Brandon Henschel, is a dancer on Lip Sync Battle and danced on stage with Nick Carter, AJ McLean, and Gigi Hadid in 2016. Melissa liked this tweet about Nick and her husband being “DILFs”.

– In 2012, Melissa retweeted a tweet about the song that she and Nick recorded together.

– In a video on her YouTube page from September 2017, Melissa states that “music from BSB and NSYNC “gives her the “warm and fuzzies”.

– This Summer, Melissa added a video of Nick in The Hollow to her YouTube playlist, posted by a Backstreet fan account.

– It’s apparent across all social media channels that Melissa is trying to gain notoriety. She and her husband have applied to be on The Amazing Race and she has tweeted Celebrity Big Brother to be on as well. Her first YouTube video from 2014 is titled “I Need To Become Important On The Internet”, in which she talks about how much she wants to be back in the spotlight. See video here. This has been said to be an improv piece, but we have no proof. She has also tweeted multiple times over the years that she is looking to be on Dancing With The Stars. She was also active on social media (liking tweets / retweeting) about wanting to be a judge on Boy Band – which Nick Carter was already cast on.

– Melissa name drops Nick in a 2015 interview about what she has been up to since Dream ended.

– At 1:45 into this video, Melissa and Ashley (also from Dream) name NSYNC as their favorite boyband, but agree that they love the Backstreet Boys as well.

– Perhaps the oddest is that Melissa did an Instagram Live with fans in May and at 2:30m, she states “that poor guy (Nick) has gone through so much. He’s been through it, I tell you. So sad” before going on to talk about how excited she is to watch Boy Band and mentioning that Aaron Carter is a “hoot”, signaling that her and Nick’s relationship went past one night. Watch here.

– Speaking of Aaron, she also tweeted him (Nick’s brother) in 2013 in good spirits.dpvo6lfxuaix61h

– We also find it odd that, before posting this piece on Harvey Weinstein and the #MeToo movement and how Maxim wanted her to show more skin against her wants, Melissa erased all traces of attending the Maxim Halloween party in 2015 from her Instagram….but not her Twitter (here, here, here, and here). There are multiple instagram posts that have been deleted actually, and upon posting her Nick Carter themed blog post, there were multiple fans that asked her where her Instagram post went that was praising him. Obviously, we can not retrieve deleted posts, but with so many alluding to them and a history of deleting things, we have reason to believe that they existed, just like people believe that these events actually happened.

– Also…

I absolutely love this song by @nickcarter and @melissaaschuman. 💚💚💚

A post shared by 💟Brittany Nicole 💟 (@brittanynicole929) on

While Melissa changed her Instagram handle and deleted the above IG post, a fan shared the post before it was deleted. Melissa posted this photo of Nick with their song playing in December 2016 with words of praise for Nick — which has since been deleted.

CaptureMelissa also left the comment above in Summer 2017 on a Backstreet Boys fan’s video of the Boys from a Vegas show.

Melissa also claimed she didn’t tell anyone about it for a long time. However, in a story to Life & Style magazine in early 2018, where she changed the incident from 2002 to 2003 after it had been published, claimed that multiple people knew, including her fellow Dream members.

It is also confusing as to why Melissa said she avoided Nick after the alleged incident in her blog post detailing the night in question and that he was seemingly harassing her to talk to him, but then during her appearance on Dr. Oz, claimed that they continued to film scenes together for The Hollow.

“Shortly after he called me. He called me over and over and over again and I wouldn’t pick up. I didn’t want to hear his voice. He jammed my phone with calls for weeks, leaving me messages demanding I speak with him. Then he finally left me one last nasty, angry message and he never called me again. It was over, at least I thought it was. I thought I’d never have to see or hear from him ever again.” – Melissa’s Blog, November 2018

“We filmed scenes together and he acted like nothing even happened. I brought my friend to set. My dad came to set.” – Melissa during her appearance on Dr. Oz, November 2018

There is also a few more conflicting statements about the aftermath of the alleged events.

This was reported in Life and Style in February 2018:

This comment left on her own Instagram, which was deleted after the Life and Style article was published, suggests otherwise.

Nick has always been very open and honest with fans and the general public, detailing events he isn’t proud of in hopes that someone else will learn from his mistakes. So, in addition to the above facts about why we find Melissa’s claims hard to believe, we can’t just take her word for it.

Again, we are not shaming Melissa Schuman, but the above pieces are what they are and we don’t have any reason to not believe Nick when he says that everything was consensual and that he’s shocked by these accusations… because we are too. If we had any reason to believe that Nick is guilty of sexual misconduct, we wouldn’t be writing this. We are reasonable human beings and we definitely don’t believe that Nick Carter can do no wrong… because he has….and he has taken complete ownership of it. He has given us EVERY reason to believe him, without having to convince us.

So, we leave you to draw your own conclusions, but get all the pieces of the puzzle before you do. We owe it to everyone involved.

(For those finding this post since initial claims were made, this is Nick’s statement: “I am shocked and saddened by Ms. Schuman’s accusations. Melissa never expressed to me while we were together or at any time since that anything we did was not consensual. We went on to record a song and perform together, and I was always respectful and supportive of Melissa both personally and professionally. This is the first that I am hearing about these accusations, nearly two decades later. It is contrary to my nature and everything I hold dear to intentionally cause someone discomfort or harm.”)

[DISCLAIMER: Since this post was published, it has been assumed that I have some sort of paid association with Nick. That is a wrong assumption. I am a regular person with a job that has absolutely nothing to do with Nick Carter and this site has been my own with my own thoughts and opinions since 2014. We also do not condone ANY harassment toward Melissa. This post was specifically written about questions we had — which she answered in a blog of her own. In the blog Melissa wrote, there are many untruths made about me personally, but our response feels unnecessary.]

UPDATE (March 2019): It’s been a year and a half since I wrote this blog and never did I think that this blog would still be making the rounds today. I definitely didn’t think that I would still trolled because of it. As I stated above, this post was written in defense of Nick, not for the sake of condemning Melissa. We will continue to rally around Nick because that is our prerogative. People are free to have a different opinion, but ours is not going to change and we will not be shamed or harassed or fear mongered into doing so.

It has been apparently brought up recently that I have kept this situation going, that I’ve pushed it on others and that I have not tried to explain myself – that this was all out of hatred – and that could not be further from the truth. In fact, there are things we haven’t included in this post because we felt they were too nitpicky and harsh.

I have deactivated this post (because this case is closed, because Nick is doing ok, and because there is no reason to keep using this post to insist that I harassed others) but people continued to use to push their own agenda. So, if they’re going to draw attention to it, I may as well defend myself.

So, I am posting these tweets here. These are all of the things that I have tweeted since I published the post (which I only tweeted out twice and tagged neither Nick or Melissa) trying to be as kind as I possibly could be, trying to settle people down and explaining what we’ve been explaining all along. Not that we owe it to anyone.

If you’re reading this, please feel free to draw your own conclusions.

October 2019: Because of family friction, it has been brought to our attention that Melissa and her father are still accusing me of trolling, lying, etc. even though we have not tweeted about any of this outside of the tweets above. If anyone is reading this, rest assured that I do not believe in trolling and seeing as I have caught flack for writing this in the first place, why would I go anonymous now? I wouldn’t.

Furthermore, I’ve made it VERY clear that I have ZERO interest in degrading anyone involved personally. I said what I said here and that’s really all I have to say. I don’t know Melissa. I don’t know her dad. But I know enough about Nick that I can choose to believe what I want to believe. If you believe otherwise, fine. I’m not here to control anyone’s ultimate opinion. As stated above, draw your own conclusions.

This update is only because I feel that it is unfair that my silence is being taken advantage of. As long as I have not responded, Melissa continues to get to put things on me that are not true. She has claimed that I am a liar, yet I never called her out on her lies in her blog about me (I don’t work for Wonderful Union and I have no vested interest in Nick Carter). She has claimed that I am “hiding” behind anonymous accounts, which I’ve already addressed… and she blocked our Twitter account long ago (which is fine with me — we’re obviously on opposing sides — but don’t throw stones at others for things you have done as well). She has stated that she’s all for empowering women, but takes any chance she gets to remind people that BSB fans are immature and disgusting. Beyond that, I feel like as women with fully functioning minds, we’re all allowed to our opinion.

Also, let it be known that I have absolutely ZERO interest in speaking about, calling out or anything else to do with Aaron Carter. I wish him all the best and that if he needs help, he gets the appropriate help without influence from others who may or may not have his best interests in mind. Honestly, I haven’t kept up with all of it.

Bullying of ANY kind, even retaliation, is never okay. We’re done with this subject. There is nothing we can do, so it is what it is. Sending peace and healing to everyone.
