To The Backstreet Boys’ Security Team…Thank You!

In our years as Backstreet fans, there’s a group of men that has grown just as important to us as Kevin, Howie, Brian, AJ and Nick. Those guys are Drew, Keith, Josh, Mike, Aaron, and Q.

If you’ve been to multiple events, you’ve most likely also become friendly with one or two of them (even though they still won’t let you jump on the back of your choice Backstreet Boy). Sometimes, we have just as many stories with them as we do with the Boys themselves.

So, we asked you to share your stories with us and tell us how much you appreciate them because honestly, we couldn’t imagine a good time without them. These men are the best security team out there! After all, our Boys haven’t been taken down once and that’s quite a feat… considering, you know, us.

Before we get to words from the fans, take a minute to learn a little bit you might not have known about each of the team members (excluding Aaron – we couldn’t find anything)!

“Well, what can I say about Mike? He has always been my favourite security guard since 2014 when I started doing the Nick solo tours. I have met Mike before with all the boys but never had a chance to talk to him. When I talked to him in 2014, he was such a down-to-earth and sweet guy. He reminds me of his older brother, Q, and that is why I adore Mike. It feels like he is a long time friend that you catch up with once in awhile. He always makes me feel safe and also cares when I am there. To me, he will always be my favourite bodyguard.” – Vanessa Da Silva

“I just want to say thank you for keeping the Backstreet Boys and us safe. We appreciate it.” – Anyse Gaudet

“All of them are so sweet! They are just awesome! I ran into Mike a couple of times outside the hotel and he was generous as always and I introduced him to my fiancé (Fiance’s first time seeing the boys in concert). At the after party, he came over to us and said hi (had a small conversation) then my fiancé asked him if he could give the boys our wedding invitation and he was so nice about it and he told us that he’d give it to Kristy! So it was really nice of him to do that for us! Josh was very friendly at the M&G line, giving the proper directions how to approach the boys! He kinda calmed my nerves lol – I was nervous at the M&G! BSB security team are awesome! They do such a great job keeping the boys safe!” – Alexandra Sotomayor

“The Backstreet Boys security team is amazing! Every time I see Mike he always comes over and gives me a hug! Always friendly and respectful! I feel safe around him and appreciate all his hard work to keep everyone happy and safe!!!!” – Angela Nicole Milioto

“They are the greatest people about the crew! They are the best! My favorite security crew is Mike! Is the best of best! But Q was the number one!” – Tony Rodriguez

“I love all the security, but one of my faves is Keith. We were inside a hotel in Brussels, Belgium where the guys were and he came down. We started talking to him and stood there for a while. He stood next to the elevator the whole time, when he said bursting out laughing, I freaking missed the elevator for four times now. How is that possible? Will come back later, really have to go now. We had to laugh too, cause we never realized that!” – Denise de Koning

“When I was in Vegas this past March, I was joking around with Josh over his choice of sports teams. We were on completely different ends of the sports spectrum and he then proceeded to tell one of the other security guards to give me a hard time. He was a great sport about it (no pun intended) and it was nice to interact with him that way!” – Becky Clarke

unnamed

“I really love and respect BSB security team! They always very sweet to us. When my friend who isn’t good at English was getting nervous before M&G, Q kept telling her, “Don’t worry. You can enjoy it ,so relax and smile.” BSB security team is the BEST in this world!” – Hisae

“I met Mike for the first time in San Diego during Nick’s All American solo tour in 2016. While waiting for my turn to meet Nick during the M&G, I noticed Mike standing by and holding fans’ purses and jackets as they went forward to meet Nick. When my turn came, he asked for my bag and I handed it to him and he kindly asked, “How are you doing?” My focus, which had been on Nick completely for the past few minutes, was momentarily diverted to this polite gentleman asking how I was. I replied with, “Very well, thank you Sir!” It was a brief moment, but Mike immediately became a real person in my eyes, not just Nick’s intimidating bodyguard.

I met Josh that day too, who was doing double duty: checking fans in AND playing photographer! I realized they were just some sweet, down to earth guys who happen to also be big and strong and keep our Backstreet Boys out of harms way. Thank you BSB Security, you are most appreciated!” – Jennifer Samuel

“Absolute best team around! We are so lucky to have them as part of the Backstreet family. Drew, Mike, Josh, Keith, and Aaron – THANK YOU.” – Andrea

“The BSB security team have become like a 2nd family; not just to the boys but to us as well . We’re just as excited to see Mike, Drew, Josh, Keith and Aaron as the boys. And they get get excited to see us too haha! Not sure if it’s a good or bad thing when security knows who you are but. I appreciate all their hard work and dedication to the boys, and all the sacrifices they had to make. Over the course of 24 years the bodyguards became more then just someone who works for the boys, they became family and it makes all the difference.

Mike is the man lol Afterall, he was trained by the best. He’s always a joy to talk to and is more then happy to hold your stuff while you take your picture. During my Nick and Knight meet and greet he was asking if he could hold anything and i said “you could hold me” playing around and he came over and gave me the biggest hug! During the All American Tour last year, a weird creepy guy got into the venue and I’m like um Micheal go take of him and he went and kicked him out lol My evil twin Jen chatted him up for a bit while me and my Twinny Steph were getting selfies with nick. He told Jen he would have stayed longer but “someone was hungry” as he was holding a big bag of food.

Josh is from Jersey like me, his hometown not too far from where I live. I actually saw him at work a few weeks ago but I didn’t say anything to him. Josh is a sweetheart. For the All American show in Phoenix he saw I was from jersey and I got scolded for not bringing him bread from Calandras Bakery, a famous bakery from where we live. I told him I’d be going to the jersey show and I’d bring him some then. So while waiting for sound check to start at the NJ show, I found him and went and gave him the bag of bread I got. I have never seen someone get so happy over a loaf of bread before! About halfway through the show he came over to where I was standing(I was up front). He told me “this is for hooking me up” and handed me something. When I looked at what is was I couldn’t believe it. It was a ticket for a selfie with Nick! I still think it was so awesome of him to do that. I found him after the show and thanked him.” – Ashley Darpino

“I love them all, but Mike has surely been the most amazing one to me, and that’s because his brother Q (AJ bodyguard) would always look out for me at shows and VIPs, make sure I was okay and having fun. I saw BSB in KC during IAWLT tour and they talked about Q and I bailed my eyes out I just couldn’t hold it in. Mike saw me and came over to comfort me, told me it was okay and toxhave fun that’s what Q would want. I told him thank you so much, I smiled, gave him a hug. It was such a small geasture that I will never forget. (I even cried as I typed this) RIP Q and thank you Mike, Keith, Drew, Josh, and Aaron for all your hard work! Xoxo.” – Shay

“I had talked to Q a week before he passed away. BSB was in Chicago for Miracle on State street, and we were all hanging around the buses. That was the time that I peed myself. Hahaha. I told Q, and he was like it’s our little secret. I was telling him how much of an angel he was, and I thanked him for watching over our guys. I’m so appreciative of how friendly, caring, and compassionate he was to not only the guys, but to the fans. I miss him greatly. He always went above and beyond to try to have the guys get close to us while remaining safe. He’ll be forever missed!!!” – Shannon V.

“This team is amazing. Honestly, they make every experience so much better. They’re kind, helpful, and genuinely care about the safety of not only the boys, but us too. While I truly love them all, I actually have a Drew specific story that stands out in my mind.

On the 2014 BSB Cruise, Brian came along the rope barrier during one of the night parties. I got a picture with him and then did my best to bend and move so others could get a pic too. There was a lot of chaos and pushing and those ropes aren’t exactly strong. At one point, Drew saw me struggling a bit to stay balanced and actually grabbed my arm and helped hold me up. It may not seem like much, but the added concern for my safety and those around me (he proceeded to ask everyone to back up and calm down) was so appreciated. We made quick eye contact and I thanked him before he went on to keep doing what he does best for others down the line.

So, thank you to Drew & the entire team for looking out for the boys and all us fans as well. Our experiences are so much safer and fun (seriously the jokes sometimes are too great) with all of you around!” – Rebecca B.

“Q was awesome with us in the M&G photo on the BSB Cruise 2013. I will never forget that! At first, I was a little scared of Keith but when I met him, I felt comfortable. He’s such a nice person! Thanks Keith for take care my Kev.” – Jennifer

“Where to begin? Mike it’s the best!! First in 2011 he got me inside the hotel in Brasília so I could get autographs, second in 2013 when I ran into Nick at 4am wandering around the cruise ship and he couldn’t take a picture at that time, Mike promised me he would do it on the next day, so as soon as I saw them next day I said he promised me and while everyone else was fighting over pictures Mike was holding onto me saying to Nick to take a picture with me… and for last last year on my bday I went to a Nick’s concert in Vancouver and asked if I could get a video of Nick wishing me happy bday and kissing my cheek and Mike helped me with that. He’s such a sweetheart and I just love him for being the way he is. Mike, you’re the best!!” – Renata Motta

“Johnny “Q” Elgani. Protecting our Boys from the very beginning.️ He became more then just a guard, he became family. He watched them grow up and watched their families grow as his did. He was there through it all, the ups, downs, highs and lows. A very special and close bond grew and strengthened btwn the guards and the boys and eventually they became part of the family. and not just for the one boy but for all 5, and each other. One of the reasons the boys have lasted 24 years is from the people they surround themselves with. A very small, close group created a big family always looking out for each other. In the midst of chaos and uncertainty we knew that everything would turn out ok because our boys were taken care of. Having gone through just as much as the boys and never backing down, he truly was the 6th Backstreet Boy. He will forever be watching over them like he always has and will continue to share his love and light. We miss you everyday Q, it’s not a backstreet party with you. Thank you for loving them as much as we do. Never stop smiling.” – Ashley Darpino

” Mike is amazing. He always treats me and my friends with nothing but love and respect. He never forgets us and even managed to find us on the NKOTB cruise. We love Mike!!” – Julie

“This was our little tribute to Q during the IAWLT Tour. And a little shout out to the security team (and Justin!) for helping us out wunnamedith it. That’s me beside Nick, my sister Erica is in the middle, and my friend Krystal between AJ and Kevin.

We really wanted to do something and this just seemed like a perfect way to do it. We are so lucky to have the absolute best guys in the business with our Boys. The Backstreet family is really something special.” – Andrea Bove

“The Boys that protect our Boys are amazing. They are just as down to earth and sweet… they may look scary, but their bark is harsher than their bite.

Q – so sweet…, one of the first of the security guys that I got to interact with. In 2012, I had just moved to NYC and they were doing promotional stuff for Kevin returning, their Christmas song, etc. All of a sudden there were chances to interact with them outside of the concerts. Q was always a good sport, hanging out outside of a hotel when AJ did one of his many smoking breaks. He even played along and joined in various funny face pictures I asked for (https://www.instagram.com/p/ZeLaIxtYAs/https://www.instagram.com/p/bAoOQstYCX/). Hearing of his passing was so sad. I ended up using one of my VIP pics after the fact ( https://www.instagram.com/p/w5rOsbNYLO/)

Keith – What to say about the guy that dutifully protects and is best friends with Kevin!? Best memory with him was my first cruise in 2013. I tried for what seemed like hours to get Kevin’s attention to get a picture with my attempted recreation of the Jekyll / Hyde Everybody costume. Mike saw me and told them (so grateful!); it was so crowded, that to my surprise, Kevin had Keith pull me up on the Lido Deck stage…then promptly forgot about me for about 45 min!! Kevin, of course, was being good about taking as many selfies as he could and got a bit lost in the crowd…..it was awesome to be able to hang out with Keith!! https://www.instagram.com/p/gHcozctYC3/
I’ve gotten a few memories with Mike, though a funny one was when I tried my “snapchat hack” with him. I had had Brian and Nick already sign photos with them….he somewhat refused, then did this: https://www.instagram.com/p/BC3GTNetYJc/” – sv02

We couldn’t love and appreciate these guys more!

Love The Backstreet Security Team? Tell Us!

We go all across the world to see the Backstreet Boys and we tell them every chance we get how thankful we are for them, how much we love them, etc. Sometimes we get a little too loving…

…and that’s where the BSB security team comes in.

If you’ve been to ANY Backstreet event, you’ve most likely seen Mike, Drew, Josh, Keith and Aaron looming nearby. If you’ve been to multiple events, you’ve most likely also become friendly with one or two of them (even though they still won’t let you jump on the back of your choice Backstreet Boy). Sometimes, we have just as many stories with them as we do with the Boys themselves.

They’ve become part of the family and they’ve kept Kevin, Brian, Howie, AJ and Nick safe and sound throughout the craziest of crazy… so it’s time they get their own appreciation post.

We asked you before for your help, then things went wild so now, we’re asking again. Send your words of appreciation for this team or your stories about any of them (Q included) and we’ll use it in an upcoming post!

Staying Grateful: Remember When We Couldn’t Even Meet The Backstreet Boys?

Remember when we didn’t have the opportunity to meet the Backstreet Boys at events?

Remember when we had to wait outside of venues, hotels, airports and busses for even a glimpse of Kevin, Brian, AJ, Howie or Nick?

Remember when we were happy just to get a wave from one of them?

Now, we have been given the opportunity to meet each of them, say a few words, HUG THEM…. And some of us are consistently complaining about what didn’t happen and short it lasted.

We are in an air conditioned space, everyone looks cute, and some of the Backstreet Boys even recognize you… but you’re mad that you didn’t get their addresses to mail them Christmas cards or that they didn’t have time to film a video for your mom who couldn’t make it.

Your 10-year-old self would be shaking and never washing her hands again, but your 20-year-old+ self is ticked off that Nick didn’t say exactly what you wanted him to say? Let that sink in.

They’re happy to meet us! They play our photo games, they say all the nice things, they really try… and some of us leave with nothing to focus on besides what didn’t happen.

At some point, some of us got so caught up in the hype, stopped counting the number of times you’ve met the Boys, started focusing on what you weren’t getting….and lost the magic and the appreciation that you’re meeting them – that you’re an inch from them – at all.

In losing that grateful feeling, some of us have also lost the ability to be rational when it comes to meeting / seeing them. We’re so scared to miss an opportunity that some of us will quite literally push and shove our fellow fans into each other and into the Boys.

Guys… what are we doing?

We’re grown. We have jobs, families, adulty things and we’re pushing and shoving human beings (our FRIENDS) into each other and into the Backstreet Boys. We can complain all day about how we “wouldn’t get time with any of them” unless we do push and shove, but how do we know until we ALL sit down and try?

Respect each other. Respect Kevin, Brian, AJ, Howie and Nick.

Of course, we should be excited. Of course, we should be hype and make them feel the love. We shouldn’t act like zoo animals at feeding time. Step back and think – you don’t like the people pushing into you, so how do you think they feel?

The Backstreet Boys are not toys. They are not to art pieces in a museum. They are living, breathing human beings that have stuck together for 24 years to MAKE MUSIC and PERFORM. Yes, they spend more time with us now that we’ve all grown older, but it’s not something they HAVE to do.

We are lucky.

Those of us who get the opportunity to meet them on multiple occasions are lucky. Those of us who have only met them once are lucky. Those of us who haven’t met them at all but are still fans are lucky in the fact that they have a band that’s loyal to their fans.  It doesn’t matter how much money you did or did not pay.

We’ve made the choice to be a fan. We’ve made the choice to go to an event or pay for VIP. We can choose to be happy and make the best of it or we can choose to poison ourselves and sabotage future experiences by being ungrateful and acting like lunatics.

I think we all know what the better choice would be.

Next time you hug Kevin, Howie, AJ, Brian or Nick, remember how lucky you are in that moment. Remember how grateful your younger self would be that you’ve stuck it out this long.

Next time you’re at a Backstreet Boys event, don’t push and shove to get to them. Trust them. If nothing else, we have the chance to show the world WHY the Boys are so great and why we are fans – why aren’t we doing it? Why are we acting like we’re starved for their attention? Get it together, friends.

And don’t forget to breathe it all in because you never know what tomorrow holds.

We can make changes – but it HAS to start with us. All of us.

Let’s do it!

64 Fans On 24 Years With The Backstreet Boys

On April 20, 1993, Kevin, Howie, Brian, AJ and Nick became the Backstreet Boys. Five guys worked their way out of Orlando, FL to stages around the world.

They kept working and working…

…Until they changed millions of lives with their music, their stories, and the human beings that they are.

In 2017, we are celebrating the success they’ve had as a group for the past 24 years. They’ve been through public ups and downs, losing a member and getting him back, album after album, tour after tour, weddings, babies, health issues and more.

For 24 years, they’ve had each other’s backs.

They’ve been each other’s family.

In turn, they’ve become our family.

Words aren’t enough for everything we’ve felt about the Backstreet Boys over the past 24 years, so we asked you to simply send in a few things such as when was the first time and the last time you’ve seen the Boys live and how the past years as a fan have impacted you.

Before you read on to the lovely things everyone else had to say, here’s where I want to start:

Kevin, Howie, Brian, AJ, and Nick…

We are so sorry for not loving you sooner, but thank you for knowing that we would come around. We’re sorry for ever doubting, years ago, that you would keep coming back. Thank you for sticking with us when we may not have stuck with you. Thank you for continuously showing up when the world seemed like it was against you. Thank you for not giving up on us or giving up on each other. Thank you for making music that we can pass on to our children. Thank you for healing us in ways we never knew we needed.

Thank you for all of the memories you’ve given us.

Here’s to the next 24 years, Boys. We can’t wait to see what the future holds.

What Has The Last 24 Years With BSB Meant To You?: The last 24 years with BSB has meant EVERYTHING to me! They’ve been there with me during my breakdowns and triumphs. When my mom passed in ’02 they were there. When I graduated in ’05 they were there, when I got married and had my babies they were there. My 5yr old was diagnosed with cancer when he was 9 months old and when he was getting treatment all he would listen to was BSB. They were the only thing that would calm him and lul him to sleep. I sent Brian a letter about my son and asked him for a signed photo not really expecting a reply. To my surprise I got a signed photo in the mail for my son. It sits on the mantle above the fireplace. I plan on going to see them if and when they have a world tour and I plan on bringing my son so he can meet Brian and the rest of BSB. I feel like BSB is apart of my family. Without them life would be pretty depressing.

What Has The Last 24 Years With BSB Meant To You?: We see a lot of changes in the past 24 years. Being a fan since the released of their first single, I had to rely on MTV, borrowed cassette tapes, VHS tapes just to watch and listen to the Backstreet Boys. Then we had CDs, VCDs, and eventually Youtube. But nothing beats the feeling of watching the Boys perform live for the first time. It was only last year that I was able to save enough to be able to fly to Manila and watch their concert. The emotions were indescribable. We’ve watched them grow from young carefree boys to responsible family men. They are meant for greatness and I will be their fan until the end.

What Has The Last 24 Years With BSB Meant To You?: I was 8 years old and fresh off the spice girls. A friend showed me quit playing games and asked me who I thought was handsome. I was hooked on Aj. Growing up my parents fought a lot and bsb were the only ones that helped me sleep. Backstreet boys sang me to sleep for years. I was teased for being a fan, told it was a phase. As I grew up I continued to listen to them to help with anxiety. When I was pregnant I played unbreakable non stop, it helped me through my husbands deployment. Basically if I need stress relief, or help going to sleep, my boys always bring me comfort. I can always listen and watch them and feel comforted and loved. Now my son’s love the boys with me.

What Has The Last 24 Years With BSB Meant To You?: The Backstreet Boys shaped who I am as a person. I was bullied pretty badly in high school, and their music helped me escape from that.

When my mother died, they helped me by releasing tour dates two weeks after her funeral, which reminded me that there was something worth living for.

Through thick and thin, they’ve been there for me through their music, with concerts and music videos. They’ve helped me meet some of the best people I know (including my best friend at a Black & Blue show), and allowed me to travel to many places – for concerts, of course.

Oh, and, frankly, their music still makes me grin and dance around.

So, thank you, Boys, for everything. Thank you for your music, for your lyrics, for your lives. I’ll be right here for the next 24 years, ready for another album and another tour.

What Has The Last 24 Years With BSB Meant To You?: Where do I even begin?! I have been a fan for almost 20 years! When I was a freshman in high school they helped me through a hard time. I am so thankful for them and their music and how it, and they have touched me. Also, the song Never Gone has a special meaning for me. My mom died in 2005 in a car accident and that song really helped me, but also made me sad! I can’t even really put into words how much these five guys mean to me! What Has The Last 24 Years With BSB Meant To You?: The music of the boys helped me through some pretty tough times.. I still cry like a little baby when ‘Show me..’ comes along (my dad died and it was his favorite song). But at concerts I always have my besties by my side to give me a hug and to make sure AJ sees me and throws me a handkiss, sings to me and one of his signature bows where he smiles and raises his eyebrows (you all know what I mean).. Oh I could go on and on.. But the boys gave us so many memories.. They are the happy place we go to when we close our eyes and we want to build more memories to that smile on our faces glazing away in the far distance for many, many years to come!!

What Has The Last 24 Years With BSB Meant To You?: The BSB has meant everything to me since the first time I heard “QPGWM” in 97′ I fell in love with their voices & music. I came from Lima, Peru to the USA in 96′ along with my dad & brother, my mom passed away when I was 8 yrs old, to make long story short.. The BSB were (still is) my motivation and inspiration to learn the English language, they were my reason to keep pushing forward in my life and school (barely had any family) It wasn’t easy adapting to a new country and culture but thanks to my BSB, I had a reason to look forward to life every day, I learned their music by writing them in my journal, singing, doing scrapbooks, calling radio stations to request their songs, calling TRL etc! I came out of my shell, I grew up listening to their music and lyrics (still do). There are no words to describe what I feel about my boys and how their music has inpacted my life throughout all these years, growing up without a mother wasn’t easy.. To date, I still jam to their music and I relate so much to their music, every song has a special meaning to me because it helped through each stage of my life.. I love them! I’m a proud BSB Fan! 20 years & still counting KTBSPA!!!

What Has The Last 24 Years With BSB Meant To You?: My sister and I fell in love with the BSB in 1996. We grew up with a dad suffering from a mental illness and their music was like refuge for us. In 2007, she had big health problems and she almost died. It was the worst moment of my life and BSB helped me holding on when she was in a coma. She kept crippling after-effects so in 2014 when we saw them live together for the first time, it was like if we went back in time when she was healthy and carefree. BSB are the best antidepressant ever ! They helped me holding on when I was totally lost and desperate. And since my Mum came to a BSB cruise with us, she’s a big fan too ! That’s a family affair ! We love you guys.

What Has The Last 24 Years With BSB Meant To You?: My life changed in 1996 when I was visiting my dad’s family in Holland. I was watching MTV with my cousins and a music video with 5 amazingly talented guys filled the screen. “Get Down” was my first taste of BSB and I was hooked and desperately needed more. BSB has been a constant in my life, always there crooning exactly the right words when I needed them the most, during the lows (losses of loved ones) to the highs (marrying my high school soul mate) of my life. After 21 years of only seeing them from a distance, my inner 9 year old finally got her wish to meet them. And let me say, my life changed yet again. So thank you: Nick, Brian, AJ, Kevin and Howie for changing the life of that little 9 year girl.

It’s cheesy to say, but every time I’m down, they seem to make it right. To me, that’s what makes them LARGER THAN LIFE!

What Has The Last 24 Years With BSB Meant To You?: Backstreet has always been the great escape for me – a fantasy if you will, that my 13 year old self clung bitterly to when I was getting bullied daily – at school, and at home. Imagining that words in songs like “The One” and “I’ll Never Break Your Heart” were crafted specifically for me, got me through hard days, and often hushed me to sleep when anxieties pounded at my door.

They have also always been the best form of comfort to me – helping to calm, and silence storms by simply hearing their melodies. I’m so grateful for them – being completely biased to AJ specifically – who more times than one, talked me off the ledge.

Many said it would be a phase, but here I am, 19 years later still going strong. Love you boys!

What Has The Last 24 Years With BSB Meant To You?: So many moments stand out, but 2 revolve around my 2 sons. In 2005 I was due to have my first child a week after a BsB concert, I ended up having him early and couldn’t go. My friends bought me some wonderful souvenirs back instead. I have been to at least 1 date of every UK tour that BSB have ever done apart from that year! Fast forward 9 years and I’m 4 months pregnant with my 2nd son in the pit at the NEC for the latest tour, I had the most amazing time. 4.5 months later I have prepared a CD full of BSB songs to play whilst having my c section but the delivery room didn’t have a CD player – the nurse suggested putting the radio on and randomly guess what was the first song that came on and also the song my 2nd son was born to? I want it that way! He’s called Ace Joseph. BSB has pretty much bench the soundtrack to my life!

What Has The Last 24 Years With BSB Meant To You?: My Backstreet Boys… How to even begin? I have so many memories forever connected with so many songs. BSB were, are, my life long soundtrack. From the rough high school years, to my military service, the countless hours of driving with one (or more) BSB Cd playing and me singing/ screaming along, and even giving birth with a BSB playlist!
I can’t and I don’t want to imagine my life without BSB music in it.
Over the years I was lucky enough to make some lovely dear friends (who I’ll meet some day, I’m sure!) thanks to our mutual love for the boys.
So thank you Nick, AJ, Brian, Kevin and Howie for everything you gave me on the last 24 years, Here’s hoping to celebrate the next 24 with you!

What Has The Last 24 Years With BSB Meant To You?: Well, to start off i am NOT a 90s kid. The first ever time i heard a bsb song would be about 4-5 months ago maybe, but since then i have been hooked ! The first was quit playing which was oddly catchy, and then a friend of mine told me to listen to IWITW. At first i didnt think much of it, but it went on to become an all time fav. Well on thing lead to the next and now i know about 73 songs maybe? But they are amazing and its hard to listen to anything else except bsb. I even play them on guitar especially i want it and it sounds soooo good. I never really had the opportunity of experiencing them at their peak so i wish them all the best such that their new album is a huge success and brings them to mainstream pop back again. Backstreet’s really back , alright !

Everything You Need To Know About Booking The Backstreet Boys Cruise

So that time has come again for another BSB Cruise and we are SO excited! Here is a step-by-step guide to booking BSB Cruise 2018, and a breakdown of everything you need to know – because it’s as easy as 1, 2, 3!

1. Do Your Research On The BSB Cruise Website

giphy

Rose Tours, the company in charge of running the cruise, is great about laying everything out that you will need to know, so nothing comes as a surprise. Give it a nice long look-over so you know exactly what your getting – what is included and what isn’t.

Also, familiarize yourself with the ship to see what amenities are on board, and to get a feel for where you would like your cabin to be. We will be sailing on the Carnival Sensation.

2. The Cabins Come In Single, Double, Triple, Quad

giphy1

If you do not have a roommate or roommates lined up, you can participate in the roommate match program, where you will purchase the type of cabin you want, and Rose Tours will match you up with a roommate! This is a good program to participate in if you are looking for a roommate. All of the information about Rose Tours’ roommate match program is listed here.

Another option for finding a roommate is looking in the Fan Club or social media groups to find people who are looking for roommates. Regardless of what you decide, before booking day, you NEED to know first or second priority options of who and how many people you are rooming with. You can choose how many people you want in your cabin based on the prices, and what type of experience you would like.

The major options of staterooms from cheapest to most expensive are interior, oceanview, balcony, and suites (which have balconies). The different category name of stateroom is just the type of stateroom it is and where it is located.

Screenshot (15)

EXAMPLE: if we look at cabins 1AB and 1A, they are the same type of cabin. 1AB is “Inside” Upper & Lower, which means that the beds are upper + lower, instead of side by side (just a different layout), however 1AB is only available on decks 4 & 5 midship or aft and only available as a double, whereas 1A cabins are available on decks 6 & 7 midship or aft, and are available in all combinations of roommates.

If you want a more detailed explanation of where you cabin *might* be, you can look at the deck plans here. The different room categories are color-coded, and you can match up the room type you want with the location on the ship. It’s like a fun game or puzzle, if you’re into those kinds of things!

3. Booking Time!

giphy2

Once you choose your top choices (I usually recommended 2 or 3, just in case your first choice isn’t available), it is time for booking! But first, there are a few things that you MUST have ready at time of booking:

  • You must have an account with Rose Tours (you can sign up here). EVERYONE going on the cruise needs an account, even if you are not going to be the one booking.
  • If you want to be one of the first to book (remember your seats in the theater are assigned based on time of booking), I suggest you join the BSB Fan Club, unless you already have previously cruised with BSB. Fan Club members and past cruisers get the privilege of booking first on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 12:00PM EST. You will be emailed the presale code some time before then (exact time is TBD). All remaining cabins will be available to everyone else to book on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 12:00PM EST and do not need a code.
  • One person books the cabin for everyone in the cabin. More than one person in the cabin can look for cabins, however multiple bookings are not allowed. Therefore, the designated booking person in the cabin should have everyone in the cabin’s ACCURATE full name, email address, home address, phone number, and credit card information, and emergency contact. If they already have an account, then most of this information should come up, but I would have it on hand just in case. You have the option of putting everything on your credit card, or splitting the payments between roommates.
  • I suggest you book on a computer, if possible, and have the booking screen, and the deck plans up on a split screen. Here are pictures of the booking screens and what to expect as you go through the booking process. PLEASE look through and read thoroughly to increase your chances of a smooth booking process.

If you have any other questions or concerns, Rose Tours has a FAQ on the BSB Cruise website. I cannot stress enough to read and research as much as you can prior to booking. Good luck everyone, and happy booking!

Can’t wait to see all of you on the cruise next year!

Say What?! 34 Misheard Backstreet Boys Lyrics

Thank you for all of your submissions! We’re so happy to find fellow fans who have heard song lyrics incorrectly, as we have done this quite a bit (you’ll see in the post)! How do some of these even make sense? We’ll never know!

…But they’re hilarious, and we’re so glad we misheard them.

Backstreet Boys

Us French speaking fans from Quebec heard a French phrase: After they sing, “Time for me to let it go!” and the instrumental dance break.. AJ lets out a “Jam on, jam on..” before they start singing again. We all heard, “Je suis mort, j’ai une blonde” (l’m dead, I have a girlfriend!) lol.. Mind you we were 14 and secretly wished we were their girlfriends haha. – We’ve Got It Goin’ On

– Anne (@Banana_Anne )

I always had no idea what AJ sings before “SING IT AHHH!” Is it “Send the crazy wildin static?” What even is that? Anyone? – We’ve Got It Goin’ On

-Kristie

I speak French, so I did mess the lyrics up quite a bit before!! In “Get Down”, the second verse when Brian says, “I feel like heaven when I look in your eyes”, I thought he said “I feel like Kevin when I look in your eyes” LOL! I was like: “What? Why is he like Kevin? I know they’re cousins but still!!” Loll! – Get Down

– imjustagirl25

“I feel like Kevin when I look in your eyes.” – Get Down

-Britt

I always thought AJ sang “As I waltz by you will get to know me…” I only learned the real lyrics recently, but I can’t unhear my version.  – I’ll Never Break Your Heart

-@xochrstne

Back when the song first came out, us French speaking fans from Quebec heard: “Je lis dans mon bain..” (I read in my bath) when AJ says “a little more, better.” – I’ll Never Break Your Heart

-Anne (@Banana_Anne )

Backstreet’s Back

“Oh my God we’re back again – brothers, sisters, everybody INSANE” – Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)

-Mel

“I don’t have a fantasy ‘cause to get to you I’d walk a thousand miles” I was like 10 years old lol – All I Have To Give

-Melissa Lamb

“But my love is all…” I thought it was “put my heart and soul is….” – All I Have To Give

-Tania

Each time I hear the song “Like a Child” with my Mum, we can’t help laughing because the first time she heard it she told me, “are they singing Jackie Chan ??!?!!” – Like A Child

-Delphine Zuliani

“Close your eyes and imagine the stars…” and “I get lost, lost inside your world… When you do the things you do…” Man, I really messed up the lyrics to this song … sorry! – Hey Mr. DJ (Keep Playin’ That Song)

-Kristie

Millennium

Back when we had a crappy car radio I thought Larger Than Life was a song about a guy named Roger! – Larger Than Life

– Shannon W

Now I know the correct lyrics of course, but when I was younger, I always sang, “But letme tell you now, there are prices to pay, alright…” – Larger Than Life

-Kristie

When I heard I Want It That Way, I thought for the longest time that it was “Ain’t nothin but a party…” And at AJ’s part when he sings, “Yes I know that its’ too late,” I thought he says “Decido”. I know it sounds really stupid but I never really realized how weird it was ‘cause well…. it’s a freakin’ BSB song!! – I Want It That Way

-KTBSPA

[Side note: Even though we may now know all the words to IWITW, we still do NOT know the meaning of that song what so ever. No matter how many times we’ve tried to decode it. LOL]

I always thought it was, “Beauty Rose to an endless love” instead of “Guilty roads to an endless love.” Whoops – Show Me The Meaning of Being Lonely

-@ cjg_tt

I always heard “Can feel my feelers one by one.” LOL what even. It doesn’t even make sense! –It’s Gotta Be You

-Kristie

“I loved you from a distance star, I couldn’t reach that far…” Again, makes no sense. haha –Spanish Eyes

-Kristie

Black & Blue

There is a verse in The Call that goes “I called up my girl and said…” but I always sang along with my own made up lyric that went got my girl from *NSYNC. Honestly I never could make out that line so I just made up my version of it for the longest time! – The Call

-Jaime

“The day is done, nothing’s been won…” – The Call

-Kristie

It’s only recently that I’ve learned to love Get Another Boyfriend. Actually, it’s not that I misheard the lyrics, but at first I can’t sing along to Nick’s line “or was it all the promises of diamonds, pearls and party dresses that turned you on?” So every time it plays, I mumble the words, and all I can clearly sing is “…that turned you on!” Until now I have difficulty in singing that goddamned line. LMAO!! – Get Another Boyfriend

– Faith

“Baby he would say whatever… It takes to keep you alive.” LOL I guess this is what happens when you learn the song lyrics before you even know about love/relationships. – More Than That

-Kristie

The Hits: Chapter One

During AJ’s part in Drowning, I thought he was saying “I don’t need another lover” instead of “I don’t need another lifeline!” I thought that for many years until I read the lyrics lol. – Drowning

-@DonnaVitale4

Never Gone

Then my heart did time in Siberia…Was waiting for the light to come through.” – Siberia

-Kristie

Even though I know the real lyrics, someone once told me they misheard these lyrics, and now I can’t unhear them LOL: “I haven’t changed a thing since your lobotomy.” –Last Night You Saved my Life

-Kristie

Unbreakable

In “Everything But Mine” I literally thought they said, “You’re the cum that my world is drenched in.” I was like, “Ok, Backstreet Boys are getting dirty!” But, nope, just me… – Everything But Mine

– KDiddy1029

When AJ sings “Everything but mine… Mine I know, oh baby.” To me, even know, it sounds like he’s saying “Shalom” at the end of the second line, which, as an Israeli fan, I’m very happy about. – Everything But Mine

-@yael1983s

Ongoing debate between my friends and I: “I’m a house of cards in a hurricane… Wreckless fire in the pouring rain.” For the record- I’m on the side of “Wreckless ride.” – Helpless When She Smiles

-Kristie

This Is Us

Another ongoing lyric battle between my friends and I: “Straight through my heart… same old bullet got me”. I’m pretty sure the more popular lyric choice is “single bullet.” – Straight Through My Heart

-Kristie

“Just lend me your bladder, I’ll try and measure up” instead of “just let me make it better, I’ll try and measure up…” –Bigger

– Elise (dutchieelise)

“The scissors, the scissors, the scissors, the scissors, the scissors, the scissors, let the world know baby…” – This Is Us
– Carolina Molina (@molinacarol)

[Sidenote: We obviously know the correct lyrics to this one, but that doesn’t mean that we still don’t hear “The scissors” EVERY time. Betcha you can’t unhear it now.]

I don’t know what this means, but I heard it: “Won’t go on high overload… Show your face to me with could be everything.” – Masquerade

-Kristie

In A World Like This

“Rise up, rise up, rise up Madeleine. The son of a mannequin.” Don’t judge me please – Madeleine

-@xHarmony1997

Of course I sing “Show ‘em your tomatoes”, just because it is more fun haha – Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of

-@ cjg_tt

I saw some videos about the boys singing like this and I can’t sing correctly anymore lol “Show me your tomatoes”. – Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of

– Carolina Molina (@molinacarol)

#BSBVegas FAQ: Part Two – General Admission and VIP vs. After Party

The time has come again for Backstreet to take back Las Vegas with their shows at The Axis at Planet Hollywood and boy, are we ready for it! After their EPIC ACM performance with Florida Georgia Line and a few announcements for upcoming festival appearances, the need to see our fantastic five has only grown stronger. Anyone else already been to Vegas and watching flight prices to go back or is that just us?

We answered a few questions in the first run here and now that we’ve all had time to get acclimated, we’re answering more!

There seems to be two MAJOR questions being asked and we’re here to give you facts and an honest opinion to answer both.

What Time Do I Need To Line Up For General Admission?

FACTS:

  • Those with VIP Meet and Greet and Beat The Line General Admission tickets ARE let into the venue first.
  • Just because they are let into the venue first does not mean you are guaranteed first in line. What we mean by this is… if you are let into the venue and go to buy a drink or merch before getting into line, there is not really a guarantee that you will be up front in line.
  • You are allowed to line up for General Admission as early as you like – we saw people there in the early afternoon.
  • There is NOT a “better side” to be on. The Boys try to divide themselves as much as possible. Being on the right side, we did see all of them.
  • RUNNING into the “pit” will get you stopped by security – they’re not playing.
  • You will be standing the whole time, but there is plenty of room to move around if you don’t try to squeeze into a spot.
  • If you think not being against the stage means no Boy time, you’re wrong. They can definitely see everyone standing there.

HONEST OPINION:

  • Don’t stress lining up early. For most everyone we have talked to, the time people got in line did NOT mean a better or worse spot in the GA pit. We can not stress enough – THERE IS NOT A BAD SPOT. Once doors open, you have to split and go through metal detectors, then a photographer takes a photo of you and your friends against a background (for later purchase) before you even head down to the line to get INTO GA. There are a number of factors that could speed you up / slow you down. If you would rather use your time to sight see or relax, go for it! If waiting to line up stresses you out, go ahead! Just make sure you’re ENJOYING yourself – not sabotaging your experience.
  • VIP Tables decidedly have the best view of the entire stage in our opinion, but there is an energy in the GA that you can’t get anywhere else. The Boys don’t interact *quite* as much as during IAWLT, but that could change as they get more comfortable. We definitely got our fair share and Kevin has been drinking peoples beers since then!
  • As aforementioned, we didn’t feel like we got jipped by getting to see some Boys more than others – it was pretty fair for both sides.
  • Make friends with those around you. If you have to pee, they’ll stretch to save your spot and if they know your favorite Boy is coming, maybe they’ll move aside so you can have your moment (and maybe even take a photo)!
  • HAVE FUN! Like we said, the Boys can see you. If you’re standing there like you don’t know you’re at a BSB concert, it will make them sad. DON’T MAKE A BACKSTREET BOY SAD.

Should I Do VIP Meet and Greet or an Ultimate Afterparty Package?!

This is really subjective. The experience that’s right for you depends on what you want out of it. So let’s break it down…

VIPCompare2017

HONEST VIP MEET & GREET OPINION:

  • PRO – We didn’t feel like we were wasting our time waiting around. Once we were checked in, we got our drinks and got to hang out in a room with our friends until it was time to meet the BSB.
  • PRO – We were fresh. By fresh, I mean we weren’t dancing around at a concert and sweating for three hours before we met the Boys. Our faces were still in place and body parts were stilled tucked in properly.
  • PRO – The professional photo with all five guys. We trust Justin Segura with our VIP lives.
  • PRO – Souvenirs! The photobooth gifs have been making their way onto every fan’s social media and we really want that thing on tour (and in our houses).
  • CON – The concert HAS to start on time. If the Backstreet Boys are running behind, your experience may be a little tighter time wise. However, we will say that Kevin, Howie, Brian, AJ and Nick are very considerate if there’s something you’re trying to say to them and will do their best to give you a chance.
  • CON – No candids. Because your meet and greet experience is individual, it’s up to you to remember everything that happened.

HONEST ULTIMATE AP OPINION:

  • PRO: You’re in the VIP section….WITH the Backstreet Boys! You can’t really understand what a perk this is until you’re there, but Chateau can get REALLY crowded on the weekends. Because you’re in this section, you’re treated like an actual VIP with the BSB present.
  • PRO: Selfies! Who doesn’t love a good selfie with a BSB? It’s instant and you can make sure you’re getting your best side. The Boys have been really good with trying to get selfies with anyone who wants one in the VIP.
  • PRO: Your friends have your back. As we mentioned before, in the VIP meet and greet, you’re going in individually and holding it down on your own. It’s GREAT for the pic and the experience, but sucks if you can’t remember a thing. One our favorite parts about the afterparty is that if you’re chatting with / dancing with / in the vicinity of your favorite Backstreet Boy, your friend (or maybe a stranger) can snap a shot so you can remember forever!
  • PRO: There ain’t no party like a Backstreet party! Everyone is high off of the concert, but the atmosphere is chill, not as regimented and allows the Boys to come to you.
  • CON: You might be tired. After a whole day and dancing all night, a club in Vegas might be the last thing you want to do. It’s something to consider.
  • CON: Selfies are likely, but not guaranteed. While the Boys DO try to come to you, if you hang back, you might miss out.
  • CON: You never know who might show up. It could be one BSB, it could be four or five. If it’s important to you to meet ALL five, the AP is not for you.

BOTTOM LINE:

We listed pros and cons to try to break it down into things you might not think about, but truth be told, the pro side on both experiences FAR outweigh the cons. They’re really just terms of preference.

If your priority is to meet all five Backstreet Boys, 100% look great in a professional photo, have a more managed experience and time to hang with your friends in a quieter environment, VIP Meet and Greet is for you.

If your priority is to hang out with a few Backstreet Boys in a party atmosphere late into the night with a chill vibe and less structure, but still an intimate VIP section setting, the Ultimate Party Package will not disappoint.

….You can always do both. 🙂

Have questions? Feel free to ask us via social media or email!

Let’s Take A Backstreet Minute…

In the middle of a Wednesday, the Backstreet Boys social media accounts unleashed this one minute video, presumably to remind people that they will be back on the Vegas stage one week from today.

…But it did so much more.

With everything going on – events, ticket sales, VIP packages, what we’re doing and who we’re going with – we quickly seem to forget how lucky we are. [NOTE: I know I’ve written something like this before, so this will be brief.]

For 60 seconds, we are taken into a world that the Backstreet Boys and their team live everyday that they’re in Vegas. From wardrobe to management to dancers to crew members to every single person involved in this production, they give 100% to make sure that we have an amazing experience for a few hours out of 24 hours in a day (or a few days). There’s so much behind-the-scenes that takes so many humans and we, as fans, take so much for granted. So, we’re taking this Backstreet minute to be insanely grateful.

We may complain about this or that from time to time, but as Backstreet Boys fans, we have it so good.

We have a band that has stuck it out for 24 years, good times and bad.

We have a band that has a team that works as hard as we work to get to the events.

We have a band that works on things until they are perfect, even if we’re begging them to hurry.

We have a band that works hard to put every bit of themselves into what they put on stage.

We have a band with members are above-and-beyond kind to others.

We have a band that welcomes all of us with open arms, no matter how they’re feeling.

We have a band that never disappoints.

We have Kevin Richardson.

We have Howie Dorough.

We have Brian Littrell.

We have AJ McLean.

We have Nick Carter.

And if that doesn’t make your day / week / year, I don’t know what will.

As long as there is music, we’ll be coming back again. And again. And again. Just to say thank you.

ACM WATCH: Everything Backstreet Boys + Florida Georgia Line This Weekend

We’re less than 24 hours away from the Backstreet Boys’ Academy of Country Music Awards debut and we couldn’t be more excited! They will be taking the stage to perform their single, (“God, Your Mama, and Me”, (and maybe more 😉 ) with the boys of Florida Georgia Line.

Leading up to the show at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas tomorrow (Sunday, April 2nd), all seven men have been busy doing press and, of course, rehearsing. Of course, we’ll keep you covered as best we can.

All the interviews we find (and more as it becomes available) will be posted here! Also, follow us on social media for the very latest updates as they come in. Also keep an eye on BSB and FGL Instagram stories!

Have You Misheard Backstreet Boys Lyrics? Tell Us!

UPDATE: Read the post here.

So remember that time when you were in elementary school (or somewhere around there) and heard a BSB song for the first time (or 500 times)?

Did it really matter then what they were saying? They were just sooooo dreamy *sigh* …

Well, they still are dreamy, and we know NOW that we’re older we can relate to their lyrics more than ever (and are hopefully singing the correct ones)!

We want to hear from you—what are the most common or funniest misheard lyrics that you thought they were, or are still convinced they are? I know my 9 year old self has quite a lot…

Can’t wait to hear what you all used to (or still do) sing!
